This is a 4-year joint program between Brock University and Niagara College, where you can earn a Bachelor of Science Honours in Physics and an Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Advanced Lasers. You will spend the first two years at Brock, your third year in the laboratories of Niagara College, and finish your fourth year back at Brock.

Why Study Photonics?

No sector of business or industry remains untouched by photonics - the science of generating and harnessing light. Put yourself light years ahead in the job market by acquiring photonics expertise, backed by a solid academic foundation in the science behind it.

If you are curious about optics and laser technology, and enjoy puzzle solving, designing experiments or working with numbers and computers, there are many exciting career opportunities for you in photonics.

A wide range of careers are open to photonics experts because of the breadth of their training. Some career opportunities lie in fibre optics and telecommunications, biotech and medical research, holographic technology, optical coatings and hardware design, and space technology.
