WinSock - Windows 3.x tcp/ip socket software
How:
- download a file to your PC running Windows 3.x
(not Windows NT or Windows 95). You can use Kermit, or whatever
other means of file transfer.
- pkunzip if a .zip file, or simply execute if a .exe file
It is best to do it in a separate directory.
- run the appropriate setup from within Windows
What:
- Trumpet WinSock software twsk*.zip
- runs in the background and connects you to a SLIP/PPP provider
- Microsoft's Win32 upgrade pw1118.exe
- enables running 32bit applications under Windows 3.x
- Xwindows server xdemo32.zip
- allows remote programs (e.g., physica) open windows on your screen.
Win32 must be at least at v.1.20 before you install X.
Example:
Assuming all of the needed files are in your C:\ directory:
c:
cd \
mkdir tmp
cd tmp
pkunzip \twsk21f
win setup
... (after setup is finished, exit Windows)
del *.*
\pw1118.exe
win setup
... (after setup is finished, exit Windows)
del *.*
pkunzip \xdemo32
win setup
... (after setup is finished, exit Windows)
del *.*
