Abstract:
In this thesis, I study the Maxwell equations for electromagnetic fields in two spatial dimensions and a related non-linear generalization. Exact solutions of this non-linear theory are obtained by using the Lie symmetry method, compared to corresponding solutions of the linear Maxwell theory.
