Edwin Goldin is Manager of the Career Services Division of the American Institute of Physics (AIP). Previously, Goldin worked as Assistant Manager of the AIP's Education Division and Associate Director of Physics Students.
Prior to joining the AIP, Goldin was Program Officer with The Fund for the Improvement of Post Secondary Education (FIPSE) in the US Department of Education. Before that he was the Congressional Scientist Fellow of the American Physical Society (1987), working in the US Congress first with Senator Albert Gore and then with Representative Edward Markey.
Goldin earned a BA at Temple University and a PhD in Physics at Polytechnic University (formerly Polytechnic Institute) of Brooklyn. He did postdoctoral work at Polytechnic, where he produced an award-winning, computer-animated film on quantum coherence called Swinging Quanta. His book, Waves in Photons: An Introduction to Quantum Optics, was published by John Wiley in 1982. From 1981 to 1987 he was a professor and head of the Department of Physics at Bethany College. During the 1970's Goldin held faculty positions at Fordham University and Ramapo College of New Jersey State.
